On April 17, 2018 the AlpLinkBioEco-Linking BioBased Industry Value Chains Across the Alpine Region project started, funded under the Interreg Alpine Space 2014-20 program on the issues of bio-economy and circular economy, of which Lombardy Green Chemistry Association is a partner.
The project kick off meeting took place on 4 and 5 June in Freiburg (Switzerland).
The bioeconomy is one of the priorities identified for the economic development of the Alpine macro-region, given the wealth of renewable bio-resources present in the regions of the Alpine Space, potentially reusable for energy, industrial, food and feed production. Examples are products derived from agriculture, forest management and the reuse and recycling of biological waste. However, the immense potential deriving from the use of these resources is not adequately valued, mainly due to the lack of integrated supply chain approaches that allow inter-sectoral cooperation between the various actors involved.
The 3-year project aims to develop an inter-regional strategy for the development of innovative supply chains in order to make the most of the opportunities offered by the circular bioeconomy in the Alpine Space.
The project represents one of the flagship initiatives of the Action 2 “Competitiveness and Strategic Supply Chain” Group of the European Strategy for the Alpine Macro-region (EUSALP).
AlpLinkBioEco involves 14 partners from 6 different alpine regions with a total budget of around 2 million euro: Plastics Innovation Competence Center (CH, project leader), Business Upper Austria (AU), Poly4Eml (SI), Pieve Tesino Alpine Studies Center (IT), Confindustria Lombardia (IT), Lombardy Green Chemistry Cluster (IT), Innovation Hub Trentino (IT), Plastipolis (FR), France clusters (FR), Slovenian Ministry of Education, Science and Sport (SI), Chemie Cluster Bayern (DE), BIOPRO BW (DE), Technologiezentrum Horb (DE), ClusterAgentur BW (DE).
Lombardy Green Chemistry Association is co-responsible with Poly4Eml of the WP T1 on the mapping of the bio-economy initiatives.
Total eligible costs: € 2.036.020
ERDF grant: € 1.730.617
